133 Framed Map of Ireland - 1793 - Alexander Taylor - Excellent Condition

This is a Finely Engraved 1793 map of Ireland by Alexander Taylor, Lieutenant in His Majesty's Royal Engineers, showcasing the country's great features, distances between towns and major roads. The Map is an intricate topographical depiction of the country and was created to aid the travelling public and of course it has Military reasons also. It emphasizes the extensive road network and the distances between towns, marked in miles and furlongs, making it an invaluable resource for travelers of the time. The map features two highly decorative cartouches which make for striking visual impact. The dedication Cartouche on the botton right coat of arms of John, Earl of Westmorland, the Lord Lieutenant General, and General Governor of Ireland at the time. This may which is on linen was foldable and the original sleeve is on the verso.
