This is a wonderful Bronze of Virgil - Greek Poet. This bronze is after the original by Jules Dalou 1838-1902 a French Sculptor admired for his perceptiveness, execution, and unpretentious realism. Virgil is sculpted here holding a parchment of the Latin epic poem, that tells the legendary story of Aeneas, a Trojan who fled the fall of Troy and travelled to Italy, where he became the ancestor of the Romans. Virgil wrote the epic between 29 and 19 BC. The Bronze is of a large size and in very good condition.
