792 Mildred A Butler RWS (1858-1941) - Large Watercolour - 'Dolce Far Niente'

This is a beautiful and very large Watercolour 'Dolce Far Niente' by the famed Irish Artist Mildred Anne Butler 1858-1941Dolce Far Niente was exhibited at the Watercolour Society of Ireland (WCSI) in 1893. Dolce Far Niente, meaning 'the sweetness of doing nothing, sweet idleness' in Italian. Mildred Anne Butler RWS was an Irish artist, who painted in watercolour depicting landscape, genre and animal subjects. Butler was born and spent most of her life in Kilmurry, Thomastown, County Kilkenny and was associated with the Newlyn School of painters. The painting is signed lower left and in excellent condition. The Painting is catalogued in 'The Lady of the Peacocks' book by Dr Tom Duffy recently launched at The National Gallery. This book (pictured) is a must have for any serious Art Lover and is a comprehensive accountl of Butler's life and Works.
