Rare Danish Watercolour by Jørgen Myller Denmark, circa 1960 Jørgen Myller (1910-1985) was Denmarks first professional animator. In England from 1935 to 1937 he worked as an animator for Anglia Films. During this time he first adopted the name Jorgen Myller, to which he would use periodically throughout his career. In 1938 he returned to Denmark and began making commercials for a publishing company called Gutenberghus (Egmont), which also produced magazines. These included “Hjemmet” (The Home), a popular lifestyle magazine that was circulated throughout Scandinavia and is still in print. This watercolour is a product of the Hjemmet-Myllerier period. Myller was a highly accomplished and technically adept artist and his work is steeped in the style of the era in which it was created.
