011 Sold Pair Gold Anchor English Chelsea Porcelain Cabinet Plates Ornithological Birds

Rare pair of Eighteenth-Century English Chelsea Gold Anchor Ornithological Themed Porcelain Cabinet Plate of circular outline, and outstanding early Chelsea quality. Firmly attributed to artist James Giles who worked for Worcester, Derby, Bow and Chelsea (1745-1769). see last image.

Each central reserve exquisitely hand painted with a standing exotic Peacock bird within branches of leafy foliage, the outer scalloped moulded gilt rim with similar decoration on a moulded basket weave surface. 

Condition: Exceptional condition for such early pieces, with no losses except for a tiny paint loss at edge of one, see image. Gold anchor mark verso for 1756-1769.  

Diameter: (an impressive) 10” (25.25cm).
