579 Sold Antique Japanese Carved Ivory Lady Gentleman Figural Group Meiji Period 19thCt

Superb Example of a Japanese Carved and Stained Ivory Standing Couple, last quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly Meiji Period (1868-1912). 

Realistically modelled with stained decoration and typical headdress. 

The Japanese standing Gentleman dressed in traditional full length Kimono Dress with allover pattern is holding a walking cane on one hand and a string of beads on the other. The lady possibly a Geisha Girl is dressed in similar costume. 

Condition: Superb condition with wonderful patination, no losses to anywhere.  underneath has wonderful age-wear.  

Height: (overall as shown) 5.5” (14cm). Width: (at base) 2.5” (6.5cm). Depth: (at base) 1.5” (4cm).
