Very Attractive Late Georgian Period Circa 1820 - English Antique Mahogany Tea Caddy retaining good colour and Patina with original brass handles and Escutcheon raised on original brass feet. The lid opens to reveal a triple sectioned storage area for different Teas. This charming tea caddy retains a lovely warm colour to the mahogany and has clearly been much loved throughout its life. The inlay is of the best quality, crossbanding in Satinwood and Rosewood, Fan detail in Satinwood and beautiful oval panels on top and front with inlaid shell detail. Of course tea was a valuable commodity during the 18th and 19th centuries, hence the invention of the tea caddy which was somewhere to not just store it, but also to keep it safe from wandering hands.
