Rosewood and Silver Vanity box, with brass edging and Mounts. The interior features 12 glass containers each with beautifully engraved sterling silver lids and cut glass jars all housed in a removable tray with storage space underneath. This tray can also be removed to reveal further storage space. The Sterling Silver is by London Silversmith, George Reid and dates to 1854. The inside of the lid has a removable free standing mirror. The Motto on the Central Brass Cartouche 'faithful to an unhappy country' suggests this box may once have resided with The Earl of Courtown (James George Stopford) in Wexford, Ireland.
