These are a lovely Pair of Bronze Patinated Sculptures of Goldsmith and Burke - Trinity College Dublin - JH Foley London. They are of a good size and in very good condition. Please note these are not Bronze. The original life-size sculptures look out from the front of Trinity College on College Green of these 2 Famous Trinity Scholars. Burke, As a student founded what would later become the College Historical Society, the oldest student society in the world and later enter Parliament in 1765. Goldsmith is seen by many as one of the finest writers of Political Prose in the English language. John Henry Foley (1818-74) was a successful sculptor of monuments in Ireland, England, India and Foley Street in Dublin is named after him. Queen Victoria admired Foley's ability at public realm sculpture and Foley created many during the Victorian period.
