This is a statuette of Josiah Wedgwood (1730-1795) in black basalt which was modelled by Eric Owen for Wedgwood in 2000. There was a limited edition of 2000 made amd this one is number 829. It is in the original box together with Certificate and paperwork. Josiah Wedgwood founded in 1759 the company which bears his name today. After his pioneering developments in the pottery industry of the 18th century he became internationally known as 'The Father' of English Potters. The Condition is excellent.
