Stunning Shōwa period Japanese Beaker Vase Circa 1950 - Ando - Nagoya. This rare vase has a copper body with an applied silver rim and silver base plate. The rich dark green glazed ground is decorated with large-headed Vine and Grape detail in shaded silver yusen, shosen and musen enamels. The faint colours of the foliage and grape and the vanishing stems have an almost ethereal quality. The decoration is distinctly modern in feel and does not follow or imitate any recognisably traditional Japanese style. The same enamel has been applied to the base, which has the mark of the Ando Company in silver yusen enamels.
