The Box was made as a love Token in Circa 1810. <span class="nt">Hon.</span> <span class="ng">Caroline Anne</span> <span class="ns">Stanhope</span> was the daughter of <span class="nt">General</span> <span class="ng">Charles</span> <span class="ns">Stanhope</span>, <span class="nu">3rd Earl of Harrington</span> and <span class="ng">Jane</span> <span class="ns">Fleming</span>. </strong><strong> She married Edward Ayshford Sandford</strong><strong>, son of <span class="ng">William</span> <span class="ns">Ayshford Sanford</span>, on 21 June 1841 and</strong><strong> She died on 25 November 185</strong>3. <strong>The Stanhope family are one of the most famed Irish Aristocratic familes with connections back to Charles ll. They are also cousins through The Duke of Grafton of Princess Diana of Wales so this little Treasure has a lot of old and new interesting connections. The Box is topped with the Irish Harp on the Crown Topped English Shield. It is rimmed in 14 Carat Gold comes with superb Provenance. What a wonderful piece of Irish History.
