Description

English Georgian Sheraton Period Flame Grain Satinwood Double Tea Caddy of outstanding quality and workmanship and compact size. Circa 1800-20. This exceptional Teacaddy is attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London. The hinged lid cross banded in satinwood, fabulously inlaid with a central Sheffield Silver Plated ring handle, opening to reveal twin smooth lift out oval hinged caddies, the central bowl in our opinion is original, all areas are decorated with satinwood stringing. Condition: Good condition with nice patination and no losses, almost all the lead lining inside has worn away. Lock is present, a later tasseled key is also present but does not activate the lock.

Height: (entire) 5″ (13cm). Width: (at top rim) 10.25″ (25.5cm). Depth: 5” (13cm).
