Stunning and very large vintage Blanc de Chine porcelain sculpture of Damo with monastic clothing known to be Bodhidharma an Indian monk, named Damo in China and Daruma Daishi in Japan. He was a Buddhist teacher, the founder of Chan (Zen) Buddhism in China. A high quality ivory white porcelain with Dehua Markings, China mid 20th century. Depicted standing on waves indicating the expanding nature of the religion at that time. In very good condition with traces commensurate to its use and age. Please note this piece is not Ivory – It is Porcelain. Due to the Size, Weight and Fragility – this piece will be expensive to ship.
