Rare Framed Globe Gore – Large Size. This is a rather interesting 12 gore map which someone really loved and spent a lot of time both creating and framing. These are called globe gores. They are the strips of paper containing printed maps in the sizes and shapes needed for globe construction. The interesting observational impact of viewing this map is how it highlights the true size of countries. The absence of the the Mercator projection shows how really big Africa is and indeed South America. The map has some geographical highlights noted with lines indicating wind direction (i think) or maybe human exploartion. There are also paint brushes, quill, protractor and slide rule detailed on the map. Please note large size.
