416 Fanny Currey 1848-1917 – Watercolour – Irish

This is a wonderful painting by Frances Wilmot Currey or Fanny Currey who was an Irish horticulturalist and watercolour painter. A founding member of Ireland’s first amateur drawing society, the Water Colour Society of Ireland, Currey was widely exhibited in Ireland and Britain. Currey was born at Lismore Castle and was a friend of Mildred Anne Butler. This watercolour titled, ‘For a Warning and That Others May Beware’ with original frame is a rare item and I was fortunate to locate it here in Ireland in great condition.
