616 Tom Roche (B. 1940) – Framed Oil on Canvas – Cathédrale Notre-Dame – Amiens France

This Tom Roche painting of ‘Cathédrale Notre-Dame d’Amiens’ is a lovely depiction of this famous Cathedral. Tom painted this view which was from his hotel window circa 40 years ago. The Cathedral dominates the vista in Amiens and the following facts speak for them selves. Completed Circa 1250 and the builders were trying to maximize the internal dimensions in order to reach for the heavens and bring in more light. As a result, Amiens Cathedral is the largest by volume in France, 200,000 cubic metres !, more than double the volume of Notre Dame of Paris. The cathedral has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981. Condition is excellent – Frame has a few nicks but overall a lovely Painting.
