 Fine Quality French Napoleon III FRENCH NAPOLEON III Ebony Officers Campaign Style Traveling Writing Slope of outstanding quality and unusually large size. Made by Alphonse Tahan of 30 Rue de la Paix, Paris who was the official master cabinet maker for the French Emperor Napoleon III and his wife the Empress Eugenie. The hinged lid opening to reveal a fitted interior complete with its original plush bottle green velvet which is a little worn but too nice to replace. Interior features its original fitted letters section and a single ink bottle. The rectangular top lid with two highly ornate boulle work inlay detailing. The baise underneath has been replaced which is nicely done. This offering is a truly stunning piece. Condition: Professionally restored retaining its wonderful rich dark colour, Box closes firmly with no gaps. Lock and key are present and arev working, nice original firm hinges.
