810 English Walnut Dressing Chest – Circa 1725 – Rare Piece

This is a Beautiful piece of 300 year old furniture with a wonderful connection to Ireland – Co Monaghan. This English Walnut Dressing-Chest dates to the early 18th century and the three hundred year old patina of the Walnut is magnificent. The original  brass knobs, escutcheons and working lock/key are present. Superby crossbanded baize-lined twin-flapped top enclosing a compartment above one long, six short and a further feather-banded long drawer. The sides with original brass carrying-handles and all raised bracket feet.

Provenance – We believe it was made for Henry Robert Westenra, 3rd Baron Rossmore (1792-1860). The Barons Rossmore, Rossmore Castle, Co. Monaghan, moved to Camla Vale, Co. Monaghan in the 1940s, thence by descent.
