868 Daniel Van der Putten – Hore Abbey, Cashel, Tipperary – Oil Painting on Panel

This is a rare Painting by Daniel Van der Putten of one of Tipperary’s oldest landmarks, dating to 1272 Hore Abbey, Cashel in Tipperary. Van der Putten is Dutch born but resides and paints in the UK. Exhibited only in the finest Galleries, it is a great honour to have this rare painting by Van der Putten in my Gallery. This magnificent Tipperary Scene of “Hore Abbey” in Tipperary is a ruined Cistercian monastery near the Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland. ‘Hore’ is thought to derive from ‘iubhair’ – yew tree. The former Benedictine abbey at Hore was given to the Cistercians by Archbishop David Mac Cerbaill, who later entered the monastery, and was buried there in 1289. Van der Putten’s majestic brush work captures with consummate finesse this peaceful view of one of Ireland Landmarks. This is a very rare Painting by Van der Putten, the Dutch Artist that until now mainly painted English Scenes.
