878 Early 19th Century Oil on Canvas – Mark Butts – Oil on Canvas – Marine Scene

This charming Oil on Canvas depicts a serene Marine Scene. The Painting’s provenance is excellent although it came to me unframed and a little unloved. Following a cleaning and a new frame, the scene has come alive and makes for a very pleasant view in my Gallery. The only information is what was written on the stretcher boards in 1834. Mark Butts (we believe) was Irish and from the famed Butts family (Artists) from Cork. The Harrington Gallery is written also on the back but I have so far not located a Gallery of that name matching the 1834 date. The scene may be Irish and in the South West of Ireland where the Butts were based. After nearly 200 years it is now beautifully framed and looking great.
