Description
This is a nice sized Bronze of ‘Venus de Milo’, after the original, a famous ancient Greek marble statue, believed to depict Aphrodite (Roman Venus), goddess of love and beauty. It is renowned for its missing arms and iconic S-curve, discovered on the island of Milos (Melos) in 1820 and housed at the Louvre Museum in Paris, representing a pinnacle of Hellenistic art from the 2nd century BCE. This one with foundry mark of Louis Martin dates to Circa 1920 and has a lovely patina. Foundry mark of Louis Martin – Circa 1920.
