171 Sold Antique Grand Tour Marble Bronze Corinthian Column Italian Neoclassical Ruins

Impressive Example of an Italian Grand Tour Inlaid Marble and Bronze Mounted Architectural Element modelled after a Classical Early Roman Temple. 

 

Last half of the Nineteenth Century.   

 

This rare and unusual corner ruin features four carved wooden (possibly walnut) carved and turned reeded columns each below a finely cast Corinthian Bronze capital supporting an epistyle under a bronze frieze. The four columns are resting on a deep inlaid variegated green marble support.   

Condition: Superb condition for such an early piece, just a few dents to wooden columns, marble is in perfect condition with no losses. * This piece is quite heavy. 

Height: 21.5” (55cm). Width: (at base) 11” (28cm). Depth: at base 7" (18cm).
